FAQ

Q?

I really want physiotherapy treatment but am concerned I will not be able to afford it. What should I do?

A.

We believe everybody deserves treatment.  If you are concerned that you won't be able to afford multiple treatments please discuss it with your physiotherapist instead of ceasing treatment.

The physiotherapist will then help you work out a plan.  We genuinely want to help you and will endeavour to lengthen out the timeframe between treatments, educate you in self management strategies and provide you with other cheaper treatment options when available.

We will provide you with the ability to choose our level of involvement in your case.

Q?

Am I eligible for funding from medicare?

A.

This is a good question.

Some of you may not realise that if your doctor believes you are eligible then they can organise a care plan for you that helps partially fund up to 5 physiotherapy treatments per year (currently $51 per session).

To be eligible you must have a chronic condition of greater than 6months and must be under the care of multiple practitioners.  Clients with urinary incontinence or prolapse may be eligible if they have had the condition for this timeframe and are under the care of their GP and other specialist. The final decision is your GPs.

Please refer to the medicare website for further detail:

Q?

How do I pay for my sessions?

A.

We have HICAPS facilities for on the spot claiming if you have private health extras cover.

We accept cash, EFTPOS and credit card payments.  Gift Vouchers are available

Q?

Why do I need an initial physiotherapy appointment prior to joining the group sessions?

A.

This is to assess any existing conditions you have and your individual needs.  During this session you may have an ultrasound scan to assess the pelvic floor muscles and deep abdominals.  We will teach you how to correctly contract the deep "core" muscles and teach basic principles that are followed in the group sessions.

In some cases clients will need to attend several individual sessions to treat old injuries or conditions you may have.  Your physiotherapist will discuss what is appropriate for you during your consult.

Q?

Do you treat DVA patients?

A.

We regularly treat DVA patients with no out of pocket expense. All you need is a referral from your doctor.

Q?

Do you treat workcover or TAC patients?

A.

We do not regularly treat many workcover or TAC patients.  If you choose to come to our clinic and are under either of these you will be required to pay upfront and then be reimbursed by whomever the insurer is.

Q?

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

A.

No.  Anyone can book for physiotherapy independent of a doctor's referral.  We will always involve your doctor if we feel it appropriate and are happy to write a report to any practitioner to assist in your recovery.

Most of our clients are referred by their specialist, GP, midwife, other practitioner or family/friend.

Q?

How many physiotherapy appointments will I require?

A.

This question is impossible to answer.

Every time you come in for an individual physiotherapy session the physiotherapist will be reassessing you and your needs.  They can give you an estimate of session number but mostly it'll depend on your compliance to the program and severity of your condition!!

Clients that are attending for ongoing core strengthening will be advised when it is safe for them to continue a pilates machine based program independently or join our classes.  If it's a question of being able to afford treatment these are much cheaper options than individual sessions.
