Wouldn’t it be great to know how to do other things besides swimming in the pool to help get yourself better, fitter and feeling good.
Hydrotherapy is amazing at helping people to return to activity.
When we exercise in chest depth water it reduces our weight-bearing by 75%. This is great for anyone who has difficulty moving. Exercise in the pool can help manage or reduce pain, improve joint range of movement, improve strength and stability, and improve cardiovascular fitness.
Everyone can benefit from hydrotherapy, however some common conditions that particularly benefit are:
- Osteoarthritis
- Osteoporosis
- Back pain
- Recovery from joint surgery
- Recovery from sports injuries – sprains / strains
- Pregnancy
- Recovery postnatally
- Prolapse
The bonus of going by yourself is that you don’t have to attend a class; you can go whenever is convenient for you; and it’s cheaper than a physiotherapy run session – the cost of pool entry only!!
Our physiotherapist has over 29 years experience in setting up these programs. She will assess you at the clinic and write you up a program to follow. You can then take this with you to the pool. During your initial setup of the program the physiotherapist will teach you how to correctly move.
You should have your program reviewed every 3 weeks until you reach the point of only requiring an ongoing maintenance program.
